The last we heard about Sony’s live-action Masters of the Universe feature film was that it had been delayed back in January of last year, and a new date was never provided. Not surprisingly, it looks like the project is no longer even moving forward as originally planned, with attached star Noah Centineo reportedly no longer leading the cast as He-Man.

A representative for the actor told Collider he’s off the project, the site reports tonight. Adam and Aaron Nee (Band of Robbers) are set to direct the film, if it’s still happening at all.

The movie will be based on the beloved Mattel toyline, which spawned a successful animated TV series (1983-85) as well as the 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. The property centers on the warrior He-Man, the last hope of a magical land called Eternia.

Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Men in Black: International, Iron Man) penned the script.

Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, as well as DeVon Franklin are producing, with David S. Goyer (who wrote the first draft) executive producing.
