Overpowered Impostor role mods for Among Us have become a new trend for some of the most popular content creators, and they allow talented programmers in the Among Us community to mod some of their favorite monsters and characters into the pandemic-era hit. Some notable Impostor roles have included a T-Rex, the legendary No Visor, and Godzilla. Of course, lately it is not possible to think about Godzilla without considering his most recent rival, King Kong. Modders introduced the King of Apes into Among Us with the King Kong Impostor Role Mod.

The Impostor as King Kong has access to new, powerful abilities that will be difficult for the crewmates to outlast. King Kong can Pick Up crewmates, Crush and Smash them, and Leap into the air to survey the whole map and select a new crewmate to target. The King Kong Role Mod gives Impostors an extra advantage in Among Us. However, that does not mean it is impossible for crewmates to beat the creature and win the game. Due to the nature of creature role mods, if crewmates stay together, it can sometimes be easier to deduce the identity of the Impostor than it would be in a traditional round. Here’s how to play the King Kong Role Mod for Among Us.
How to Play as King Kong in Among Us
The Among Us King Kong Role Mod was programmed by @LooKuM / MRE for SSundee and his friends and is currently not available for public download. Other versions have also been programmed for various content creators. Players may have luck getting into a game that uses this mod by joining a server that has it installed. It is also possible that, given its popularity, other modders will eventually program a version of this mod and make it available for wider use.
When a crewmate becomes the Impostor in Among Us with the King Kong Role Mod installed, they will receive the ability to Summon King Kong. Until they do, the only available buttons will be the typical Kill and Sabotage. Once the Impostor becomes King Kong, they can start using the following new abilities:
- Leap: King Kong leaps into the air, allowing the Impostor to see the whole map in real time.
- Crush: While zoomed out using Leap, King Kong can throw the Empire State Building at a crewmate, crushing them underneath. The building remains exactly where it fell for the duration of the game.
- Pick Up: King Kong can grab a crewmate and carry them around the map.
- Drop: King Kong can let go of the crewmate he is holding at any time.
- Smash: King Kong raises his fists and slams them down, leaving an indent in the floor, crushing any crewmates within the blast radius and stunning those nearby.
Each ability has a cooldown period once it has been used, and once Impostors change back into their crewmate appearance, they will not have access to any of the abilities until they summon King Kong again.
Like other Impostor role mods, including the popular Godzilla role mod, it can be somewhat easier for crewmates to determine the identity of the Impostor than it would be in a normal match. Should the crewmates travel in a pack, it can be simple to determine who is missing when King Kong attacks. Once they figure it out, it will only be a matter of hitting the Emergency Button or reporting a dead body and voting the monster out. However, crewmates run a risk when bunched together; should Kong throw a building from a distance or get close enough to use Smash, the attacks have potential to kill more than one of them at a time.
Like many of the other Impostor role mods, the focus is less on completing tasks and more on surviving, but crewmates still can try to secure a win by finishing everything on their lists and avoiding King Kong’s wrath. Mods like these are also not meant for particularly competitive games, and it seems part of the fun comes from playing along with the Impostor.
