There’s a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, the PS5 update to last year’s PS4 game that’ll add new content and narrative beats to the game.

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade that shows off some of the most notable features you can expect from the game when the PS5 update drops.

“Take a look at the city of Midgar like never before, with improved textures, lighting and background environments,” reads the video description. “Switch between two game modes ‘Graphics Mode,’ which prioritises 4K high-resolution graphics, and ‘Performance Mode’, which prioritises smooth action at 60 frames per second, and capture and share your favourite moments of this timeless adventure with a fully customisable Photo Mode. Enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense wireless controller, with its haptic feedback integration.”

Take a look at the video below, which primarily focuses on the updated textures, lighting, and fog effects.

The new content revolves around Yuffie Kisaragi, the optional FF7 party member that didn’t make the cut in the original release of Remake. You’ll get to play through new events and battle new bosses with Yuffie as she infiltrates the Shinra Corporation to steal a powerful materia.

If you own the original version of FF7 Remake for PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version of the game for free – but the new Yuffie chapter content will cost you.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS4 was a part of the PS Plus lineup in March, but you won’t be able to get your free PS5 upgrade if you downloaded that version of the game.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake debuted in April 2020, selling 3.5 million copies in its first three days on the market. By August, Square Enix said that the game sold more than five million copies.

In our review for the title, we described it as “the best Final Fantasy has been in a long time.”
