Both Whitney and Heather brought unique backstories and plenty of drama to the inaugural season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Heather, a divorcée with three daughters, has been busy building her health and beauty business, BeautyLab. On the season finale, Heather celebrated her growing business and the grand opening of her new BeautyLab location. At the start of the season, Heather introduced the RHOSLC cast to her friend Whitney Rose, a mom and skincare brand owner. Whitney shared with viewers her struggle to help her father, who battled addiction for many years, get sober and get his life back on track.

But in addition to sharing a friendship, Heather and Whitney also share an ancestor! Heather explained in a tweet to a fan that she and Whitney are, in fact, third cousins: “My great grandmother and Whit’s great grandfather are siblings,” she wrote (via Bravo). But despite their strong Mormon roots, both Whitney and Heather have struggled with their faith and their place in the strict and conservative society. After her painful divorce from a man she described as “Mormon royalty,” Heather felt ostracized from the church community. Whitney has also been divorced and received intense backlash from family and friends when she left her marriage to be with her current husband, who was also married at the time they met. But despite the stigma, Whitney and her husband, Justin Rose, have been happily married for ten years and recently renewed their vows.
But not all of the Housewives are fans of Whitney and Heather’s relationship. Jen Shah feuded with Whitney after Whitney told her that fellow cast members Meredith Marks and Lisa Barlow were afraid of Jen. Jen took issue with the fact that Whitney told her at Jen’s husband’s birthday party, and blamed Whitney for her explosive reaction. Jen then told Heather, her longtime best friend, that Heather was responsible for keeping Whitney in check because she introduced her to the group.
Heather, Whitney, and the rest of the cast of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City will address all the drama from season one on the three-part reunion special. While RHOSLC will return for season two following its smash-hit debut, specific casting decisions have not yet been made public.
