Anima is required to do a number of things in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, from upgrading the player’s Covenant’s Sanctum to opening new areas of the Covenant’s home world. Players can earn Anima in a variety of ways in Shadowlands, typically from completing World quests, finding named chests, and killing enemies. Players will receive an item that can be converted into spendable Anima at their Sanctum. Normally, Anima items are only worth a small amount of spendable Anima, and often players will need to wait to save up enough for their next upgrade or event. However, a daily World Quest in Maldraxxus, home of the Necrolord Covenant, can be repeated daily once it has been unlocked and will reward players 105 Anima each time they complete it.

The quest is called Bet on Yourself, and it can be completed in the Theatre of Pain in Maldraxxus. Each day, players can be tasked with killing a random boss from the Theatre of Pain dungeons: Ti’or, Mistress Dyrax, or Devmorta. While it is recommended players complete this fight with a group, it can also be done solo if necessary. Here’s how to access and complete the Bet on Yourself quest in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

Though this quest takes place in Maldraxxus, players do not need to be part of the Necrolord Covenant to complete it. The Anima items are not specific to a certain Covenant and can be added to any Sanctum’s reserve. Players will want to visit Maldraxxus each day to earn this reward.

Before players can access Bet On Yourself, they will need to complete a series of quests beginning outside the Theatre of Pain. This questline begins with I could Be a Contender, offered by Louison. This will open The Last Guy series, during which players will need to complete these Theatre of Pain quests in order:

  • The Last Guy
  • How to Get a Head
  • … Even the Most Ridiculous Request!
  • Team Spirit
  • Stuff We All Get
  • Juicing Up
  • Test Your Mettle
  • Side Effects
  • This Thing of Ours
  • Leave Me a Loan
  • Working for the Living
  • Sure Bet
  • A Sure Bet
  • The Ladder

Following completion of The Ladder quest, players will need to wait for the weekly reset the following Thursday to be able to access the Bet On Yourself quest. Players can pick it up from Au’narim in the center of the Theatre of Pain.

Au’narim will inform the player that Zo’umio and many others have bet against them, claiming the player cannot compete in the arena. The player will then need to defeat the boss, proving the others wrong. For winning, they will earn 12,250 EXP, 135 reputation with the Undying Army, about 38 Gold and 61 Silver, and four Anima items. Depending on the boss the player fights, these items can include:

  • Engorged Monstrosity’s Heart
  • Stabilized Plague Strain
  • Preserved Preternatural Braincase
  • Maldraxxi Champion’s Armaments
  • Ritual Maldracite Crystal

Players can repeat this quest daily to maximize their rewards.

The bosses are not easy to defeat, and it is recommended players try this with a group of five. However, there is also a chance players might be able to receive help without needing an official raid group. There is another daily quest that takes place in the area, Amateur Night, that will draw other players to the Theatre.

If players have trouble getting one of the bosses to spawn, they will need to kill other Champions in the Theatre of Pain until one of the bosses appears.
