Nintendo has announced a release date for New Pokemon Snap and has also shared more details on the game.

In New Pokemon Snap, you will visit various isles of the Lental region, each with diverse ecosystems such as jungles and deserts. The region is packed with over 200 Pokemon waiting to be discovered.

As someone just starting out as a Pokemon photographer, you will be working with a Lental region expert named Professor Mirror. You will accompany him and his assistant, Rita, on an ecological survey to photograph Pokemon in nature.

These Pokemon may be seen living in groups, wandering around on their own, or interacting with other Pokemon species. You will be able to interact with Pokemon by throwing a Fluffruit to catch their attention. This fruit can also be used to draw them out into a particular situation to see how they react. Catching them with your camera at the perfect moment may gain you higher scores.

Professor Mirror will evaluate and score your photos, ad the photography is evaluated based on the subjects’ poses, how large they appear, how directly they’re facing the camera, and where they fall into the frame. You will be taking many photos and will use your highest-scoring shots to fill out the Photodex.

In order to explore the region, you will be traveling around in the NEO-ONE, an auto-driving vehicle, which will steer you across the landscape. Some Pokemon and vegetation seen while riding around the islands may also have a special glow known as the Illumina Phenomenon.

New Pokemon Snap will release in stores and on the eShop for Switch on April 30 for $59.99 or your regional equivalent. It is available for pre-order from today.
