After The Real Housewives of Orange County star Braunwyn Windham-Burke came out as a lesbian, fans of the Bravo star wondered if she and husband Sean Burke were headed for splitsville. Her shocking reveal came after she recently shared that the longtime couple no longer lives together. However, as the unconventional details around their marriage continue to surface, Braunwyn is explaining why they have no intentions of getting a divorce.
RHOC fans have gotten a firsthand look at how nontraditional Braunwyn and Sean’s marriage is. On her first season on the show, she revealed the threesomes she and her husband often took part in, in addition to sharing a kiss with former housewife Tamra Judge. This past summer, there were reports that the longtime couple was headed for a divorce after 21 years of marriage and seven children together. Soon after, their teenage daughter sent some harsh words her mother’s way on Instagram. But, more recently, Braunwyn opened up about how the couple was “redefining” their marriage by living separately. At the time, she shared small hints about a ”special someone” in her life who was not her husband. While addressing the openness of their marriage, she was adamant that she hadn’t been with any other men outside of Sean.

Now, with her coming out publicly as a lesbian, Braunwyn took time to address the elephant in the room surrounding her marriage. “I love Sean. I love him dearly, he is my person, he is my family, but I’m not attracted to men and I never have been,” she told GLAAD on December 2. She went on to explain their intentions of staying together. “We are in unchartered territories,” she declared. “Sean and I are still married, I plan on staying married. We are not sleeping in the same bedroom right now, but we are in the same house. We are raising our kids together, he’s my best friend. He knows the girl I’m dating.” The revelation came after she previously alluded to the couple living separately. However, it appears they were able to work out their living conditions since then.
She also opened up about falling for her girlfriend. “I met someone that I was interested in pursuing a relationship with,” she explained. “This became something that I didn’t want to hide anymore and I didn’t want to keep secret anymore.” With the current season of RHOC underway, there’s no certainty on whether cameras will capture anything about Braunwyn’s current love life. She has been at odds with other housewives on the show due to their comments and accusations around her marriage. She recently accused Gina Kirschenhieter of “weaponizing” her marriage after she called Sean “creepy” for texting to check up on her after a drunk night out.
Additionally, Kelly Dodd has threatened to “eat Braunwyn alive” at the upcoming reunion, where it’s assumed the state of Braunwyn’s romantic life will be addressed.
