Ubisoft’s third open-world title in as many months has arrived, but Immortals Fenyx Rising on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One doesn’t take place in post-Brexit London or in the midst of a Viking invasion. Also available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia, Immortals Fenyx Rising takes its’ inspiration from Ancient Greek Mythology.
In Immortals Fenyx Rising a curse has befallen the Gods of Ancient Egypt, and only a human called Fenyx can save them. Travel through this open world, fight mythological beasts aplenty, wield the power of the Gods themselves on your way to a final climactic showdown with Typhon, the deadliest Titan in Greek mythology.
Immortals may be quite liberal with its Greek mythology, but it also features another main source of inspiration. For anyone that ever played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – arguably the high point for open world adventures – Immortals Fenyx Rising will feel comfortably familiar to you.
You can traverse any surface providing your stamina bar allows it, venture into secret chambers to complete puzzles, and scan huge areas from vantage points high off the ground. Let’s just hope weapon degradation is a bit better in Immortals!
It wouldn’t be a Ubisoft game without more than one edition, and Immortals Fenyx Rising stays true to this notion. There are two versions to choose from in the Xbox Store: The Standard Edition comes in at £59.99, whereas the Gold Edition will cost £84.99 but does include the Season Pass.
