New incredible fan art shows The Boys’ star Karen Fukuhara as Cindy Moon, aka SilkWhile Fukuhara has held numerous roles in the past, including voicing Glimmer on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and playing Katana on Suicide Squad, she is perhaps best known as Kimiko on Amazon’s twisted superhero show The Boys.

While Cindy Moon may have made a relatively recent debut into the superhero world in 2014, she’s quickly become a fan favorite since then. According to Cindy Moon’s origin story, she too was bitten by the same radioactive spider who gave Peter Parker his powers. As a result, she retains similar powers as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider, although with several key differences; for instance, Cindy is able to make her own organic webbing, which also happens to be insulated against electricity.

Digital artist Malcolm Kenneth, who goes by the Instagram handle sweenystarlord, has envisioned Fukuhara in the titular role of Silk. His stunning art shows Fukuhara crouched on a roof, dressed in Silk’s black-and-white costume with a red webbing pattern on her chest. In the background, the fully lit Empire State Building illuminates Fukuhara. To the side, a familiar face makes a cameo: Kenneth has placed Spider-Man to the right of the frame, scaling his own building and looking off to one side. Even though Cindy Moon hasn’t been around long in the greater Spider-Man universe, seeing her headline her own film or series might not be that far off. While rumors about a Silk movie began swirling as early as 2018, Sony confirmed that they are working on a Silk-focused, live-action television show earlier this month. Although the series is still in the early stages of development, Kenneth’s wish of having Fukuhara in the titular role might be a distinct possibility, especially since the latter has proven her ability to keep up in fast-paced, action intensive roles in the past.

While Silk will make an appearance in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse’s all-female spinoff, her sustained popularity indicates her character is more than ready to star in a project of her own. That being said, there are a multitude of actresses who would be well-suited to play the part of Cindy Moon. However, despite the incredible talent that casting directors will have to pick from, this artist is justified in thinking that Fukuhara could pull off the role of Silk.
