If you’re one of the many who frequent the PC gaming world, then the opportunity to become a captain of the skies is one that has already been decided. Now though it’s time for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch players to embark on a new adventure as Merchant of the Skies comes to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Merchant of the Skies launched on PC via Steam back in April and since then it has gathered up a fairly considerable fan base, running with more than 500 ‘Very Positive’ reviews. And that’s what makes the launch on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch all the more interesting, as console players get the chance to head to the skies and become a captain of their very own flying ship.

Working as a trading game that just so happens to come complete with a little base building and tycoon elements, Merchant of the Skies will see you taking the very smallest of cloudships before selling, gathering, and building an empire – the main goal being that of establishing a massive trade company.

Priced at £12.49 and available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, Merchant of the Skies will have you discovering the very finest trade routes, will let you get on with doing what you want, when you want, and will allow for the chance to get rich, quick – building your own mansion from a ton of different blocks.

Features include:

  • Become a trader! Find the best trade routes and profit from them
  • Discover the world! Travel between flying isles and face different encounters
  • Sandbox gameplay: do what you want at your own pace
  • Gain experience and become more savvy when it comes to trading, then start your own goods production
  • Establish trade routes to transport and sell goods without your direct involvement
  • Get rich and build your own mansion from more than 200 different building blocks

It promises to deliver a rather fine tycoon/building experience, and our full review will be more than capable of confirming or denying that promise, but in the meantime, whilst you wait for our finest words to arrive on this website, the Xbox Store or Nintendo eShop will allow for access. There’s a free trial available too. Of course, you can still grab it on PC via Steam too.

Let us know in the comments if you decide to give it a shot.

Game Description:

In Merchant of the Skies you’re the captain of an airship! Sell items, gather resources and build your own trade empire in the clouds! Merchant of the Skies is a trading game with light base-building and tycoon elements. You start off as a captain of a small cloudship and work your way towards establishing your own trade company. Merchant of the skies is an experimental game: it does not have a distinct genre, but tries to capture the feeling of traveling the world and establishing your own company. That means we try to incorporate exploration, base building, trading and some minor rpg elements into the game. Merchant of the Skies offers you a 6-8 hours campaign where you can help different characters and restore the world to its former glory, as well as a sandbox mode where you can forget about the plot and focus on building your own company, establishing caravan routes and developing your mansion.
