On June 24, 2020, the team behind the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game presented a deep dive showcasing the story, gameplay, and live service components. It looks like it’s shaped up quite a bit since last year when opinions leaned negative, but it’s difficult to know how the game will feel until Square Enix offers more hands-on gameplay.

The event, titled “Avengers War Table,” opened with a new trailer which focused on Kamala Khan, the game’s protagonist, and revealed MODOK as the main villain. His mastery over machinery is a good way to rationalize all the mechs the Avengers will battle over the course of the game. MODOK leads Advanced Idea Mechanic (AIM)’s mission to discredit the Avengers and replace them with technology they control. You can watch the trailer below.

As part of the deep dive, the presentation also shared a 7 ½ minute video featuring gameplay, which shows Thor battling mechs, using his unique moveset to fly with Mjolnir and calling down the Bifrost Bridge to deliver maximum damage to opponents. The clip begins with a cut scene, with actual gameplay starting at 1:20.
