With an epic conclusion to Season 2 in Fortnite, the game is once again dominating Twitch views – and it’s still growing. Fortnite is coming off its The Device event, which has attracted millions of viewers all over the globe offering several new innovations to the ever-changing battle royale title.

Fortnite’s The Device event has taken players on an exciting journey that has also laid the foundation for Season 3. The Agency got destroyed in a massive explosion, which led to replacing the Storm with a wall of water. Teleporting back and forth between the Battle Island and Jonsey’s office located in some sort of an alternate dimension, players witnessed the plot unfold in a very confusing cinematic display.

According to TwitchTracker, Fortnite’s figure of concurrent viewers peaked at a whopping 2,277,171 exactly when The Device event launched June 15th. That’s an impressive achievement for the game, which is once again attracting huge interest in the community. After hitting one of the lowest numbers of average viewers in its history this January with a mere 72,340, Fortnite’s viewership on Twitch has been steadily growing during the first half of 2020. According to SullyGnome, The Device event resulted in 165,161 average viewers count for the past seven days and contributed to attracting 3,449,825 new followers across thousands of Fortnite-related channels during the same period. The game is now thriving against strong competitors like League of Legends and Escape From Tarkov, although both had more average viewers in the last seven days than Fortnite.

Fortnite Season 3 New POIs

That being said, Fortnite‘s Season 3 is already gaining momentum with a plethora of new additions to the game. Season 2 finale prepared the community for inevitable changes to the map, which is now flooded with huge masses of water. Some well-known points of interest have been obliterated from the face of Battle Island while a handful of new ones have altered the map’s topography. On top of that, several vaulted items have resurfaced together with completely new additions. While there’s a lot to be excited about right now, players can expect a lot more changes to be introduced to the game as the season goes further.

With the anticipated start of Season 3, Fortnite could hit new record-breaking numbers in terms of viewership on Twitch. The game has always occupied a high placing on the streaming service’s list of the most viewed titles, and a massive wave of content is probably going to improve those figures significantly. Fortnite has historically dropped off in views when there have been lulls in content, which have been exacerbated this season as The Device event was met with delays. It’s reasonable, then, to suspect that the beginning of Fortnite Season 3 could be a return to form. Despite the fact that there’re several other huge games on the market, Fortnite is still able to attract enough interest, which is only going to grow in the future considering that Epic’s title will adopt Unreal Engine 5 next year.
