Avengers Endgame is the highest-grossing movie of all-time and was subject to a near-unparalleled level of interest prior to its release—but some how, some way, Marvel Studios managed to keep many of the film’s secrets from being spoiled for the general public. One of those secrets happened to be that Pepper Potts would don her own designated armor in the final battle. But the secret wasn’t kept from Hasbro, who had a Rescue figure ready to launch right after the movie! Despite still being available online at a discount, Marvel Legends Rescue Pepper Potts is easily the most popular figure in this wave—is it with good reason?

Avengers Endgame Marvel Legends Rescue Figure Review

One of the biggest and most intriguing mysteries of Avengers Infinity War (at least for me) was the fact that Tony Stark seemingly skipped over the Mark 49 in his sequence of armor permutations. I wondered if that would be explored in Avengers Endgame, but never imagined Iron Man Mark 49 would be a Rescue suit designed just for Pepper Potts!

Seeing Pepper Potts fighting in the final battle in her own Iron Man armor was one of the highlights of Endgame for me, and I instantly wanted a super-articulated action figure of her. And thankfully, Hasbro was quick to answer with an MCU Rescue Marvel Legends figure near-instantly!

I was a little worried that this figure might not be “all that” due to potentially being rushed (as this armor permutation was a closely guarded secret), but I am very happy to say that this is a great action figure all-around that I’ve only got a few nitpicks about.

Marvel Legends Rescue Movie Figure Review

It’s hard to say from the movie exactly what shade of purply-blue this suit it meant to be, but I really like the metallic blue that Hasbro went with here. It looks nice, is sufficiently shiny, and is complemented by the silver and champagne secondary colors well. This figure looks slick—the way a movie Iron Man action figure should (and frankly, this one looks better than many of Hasbro’s earlier movie Iron Man armors).

As this figure is a unique sculpt with much slimmer proportions than any previous MCU Iron Man armor permutation, I had my concerns about lacking articulation or nagging QC issues. On both front, my worries were alleviated after spending some time with this toy, however.

Marvel Legends Rescue Pepper Potts actually has better articulation than the women we’re used to in the 6” Legends series, sporting the coveted swivel biceps and double-jointed elbows that most ladies go without.

Rescue’s complete articulation scheme includes:

  • Ball-Hinge Head and Shoulders
  • Ball-Jointed Upper Torso and Hips
  • Swivel Biceps
  • Double-Hinge Knees and Elbows
  • Swivel-Hinge Wrists
  • Ball-Jointed Hips
  • Hinged Feet with Ankle Rockers

The lack of any swivel thighs or calves is noticeable, but I’m happy with the posing potential overall. The range of notion given by the biceps and elbows is a godsend.

Open Air Flaps on Marvel Legends Rescue Figure

Quality-wise, the joints on my Rescue are all solid—nothing feels rubbery or like it’s going to rip off, and the only real issue is getting her to balance in some poses thanks to the weight of the opened air flaps when attached.

I have heard some folks cite issues with ML Rescue’s legs being loose, but mine wasn’t afflicted with that ailment. Make sure to open yours up and check so you can do an exchange just in case your Pepper Potts does have loose legs syndrome.

Hasbro Rescue Marvel Legends Figure and Accessories Hulk BAF Body

For accessories, we get the body/torso of the Endgame Hulk Build-A-Figure (the largest piece) and two swap-out backs for the Avengers Legends Rescue figure: one with air flaps closed and one with them fully-opened. I much prefer the dynamic look of the flaps being opened, although that can make her a bit back-heavy for posing.

I think the “big” complaint with this figure is merely what’s not included: no Pepper Potts portrait, no effect pieces, no alternate hands. A Gwyneth Paltrow likeness may have been impossible for secrecy or for timing reasons, but I would have dearly liked some effects blasts or at least repulsor palms to really bring this Mark 49 Rescue action figure to another level.

Crouching Pepper Potts Rescue Marvel Legends MCU Figure

As it is, this is a really strong action figure that just doesn’t have as many display possibilities as it should, and that’s just a shame.

Marvel Legends Rescue Iron Man Pepper Potts Review

Overall: If costs and development time weren’t an issue, could Hasbro have made a more complete Marvel Legends Endgame Rescue figure with additional accessories like a Pepper Potts face and effects pieces? Probably. But would the base figure itself have been better than this? Doubtful.

The sculpt is fantastic on this Rescue Marvel Legends figure, the metallic paint deco looks terrific, and the articulation is better than we’re accustomed to for a typical ML female figure (even if this isn’t a typical ML female figure). I’m sure Hasbro could do a better version of this armor someday, but I sincerely doubt they will. Get this Pepper Potts Iron Man while it’s cheap—I think this is a figure MCU collectors will be wanting for years to come.
