Two new experimental features in the works at Steam can be tried by users.

Valve has announced two additional work-in-progress experiments through Steam Labs.

Each of the experiments in Steam Labs are a way for users to test experiments and provide feedback which could “help shape the future of Steam.”

The two recent additions are Deep Dive and Community Reviews.

Deep Dive leverages Steam APIs to “serve up recommendations and related game information.” What it does is offer an exploratory interface to discover new games based on their similarity to familiar ones. It will then use these recommendations as a “jumping-off point to dive even deeper” into what Steam has to offer

Basically it uses tags provided by each game’s creators and the Steam Community. It then uses these tags to identify games to help users explore similar, somewhat similar, and little-known but well-loved games among each set of recommendations it displays.

The Community Reviews experiment shows you what people are actively recommending to others through Steam. It will list the current day’s recommendations sorted by helpfulness. It also features advanced controls so you can expand the view to include this week’s, or this month’s reviews. It can also be changes to limit reviews after a particular duration of playtime. It can also be filtered to include or exclude particular tags.

These are just some of the experiments available through Steam Labs. Others include Automated Show, Micro Trailers, The Interactive Recommender, and Search.
